About
The Group’s Wellhead Extraction Technology® or WET® can quickly and efficiently be deployed to any location and adapt to variations in brine water streams. As a result, Iofina is able to deploy WET® units to operational third party oil and gas wells throughout the country, presenting third party producers with a revenue source from waste brine streams.
Through partnering with Iofina, operators’ brine streams, which have historically been a cost base, can now be monetized and turned into a new revenue source which, in many instances, can completely alter the economics of existing operations and furthermore make other operations commercially viable for the first time. The lower natural gas prices presents a strong economical case for extracting value from waste brine streams as a separate revenue source.
A key component of Iofina’s strategy consists of providing a full service solution to resource operators generating brine streams associated with oil and natural gas production. Each mobile WET® unit is capable of production rates of up to 10,000 bbpd per unit. Iofina also has modular WET® plants capable of handling 60,000 bbpd. If the operator site produces more than those quantities a custom designed plant can be built or multiple modular WET® plants can be used together. Iofina operates third party brine streams for many operators in the U.S. The iodine rich brine stream opportunities range from 2,000 to more than 500,000 bbpd per location. Iofina has already identified several hundred operations that have tested over 50 ppm of iodine, with a number reaching over 2,000 ppm of iodine. Iofina has collected over 1,500 water samples from North America and has created proprietary geological model. It has been encouraging that many of these brine streams have significantly higher volumes than anticipated and, in addition, many are being found in new geological formations that were not previously known to contain high concentrations of iodine.
Current third party operations include:
- West Coast Operations: 33,000+ bbpd at 90+ in the LA Basin.
- Southwest Operations: Texas and Oklahoma, 28,000+ bbpd at 120+ ppm of iodine.
- Central Operations: Wyoming, 12,000 bbpd at c.50 ppm of iodine.
Iofina uses its WET® technology on its own production and offers it to third party producers on a contract basis. This allows the operator to have additional income on a waste brine stream.
